The Great Canadian Cheese Festival 2011

Posted on 13 May 2011 by Mădălina

Win a pair of tickets to the Artisan Cheese & Food Fair at The Great Canadian Cheese Festival!

This past Monday, I stopped by Jamie Kennedy’s Gilead Cafe to sample a selection of cheeses– this was a preview of what’s to expect at The Great Canadian Cheese Festival. God I love cheese.

Jamie prepared his sinful poutine: J.K. fries, Brisket, and cheddar….

…and I indulged in a few varieties of delicious cheese.

They were a sneak peak of the hundreds of varieties available for sample at the Great Canadian Cheese Festival. The Great Canadian Cheese Festival brings together the country’s leading cheesemakers from coast-to-coast so cheese lovers can meet to learn, talk, taste and buy the best in artisan, farmstead and specialty cheese—oh yah, and sample fine wine, craft beer and artisanal foods.

When: June 4th – June 5th, 2011

Where: Crystal Palace; Picton, Ontario

Why: Why not?

Find out more about the Canadian Cheese Festival at:

I’m giving away a pair of tickets to one, cheese loving reader ($80 value). Leave a comment with your contact information, and I’ll pick one lucky person using a random integer program on May 29th, 2011. Goodluck, and see you there:)

On a brief side note, how cool is this preserve jar wall? Chef Kennedy inspired me to take on such a project– they were all over the Gilead Cafe.

… the preserve wall and these personalized wine glasses are on my WANT list.

As I have been known to say to anyone willing to listen to my cheese-loving ramblings…Civilization requires, at its very foundation, a few key elements among them language, spirituality, political structure, technology BUT…most importantly, CHEESE, FROMAGE, QUESO, KASE, JUUSTO, QUEIJO!

So excited about the Great Canadian Cheese Festival, Canadian Cheese is a passion of mine, it’s absolutely the greatest in the whole world (no hyperbole!). Some faves are Avonlea Cloth Bound, Gris-Bleu, Mont Jacob, Monforte Toscano and Fifth Towns Bonnie and Floyd.
