I tried a little something different this time around… and I discovered that I am actually horrible at “water coloring”. The basic idea here is that you take your fondant covered cupcakes and you use food coloring or icing color, and you paint the little cuppies.
I find that this method is extremely therapeutic (painting has that affect on me), and if you are the artistic type, the effect on the fondant is really cool!
Supplies:
- Fondant covered cupcakes, smoothed ‘
- Food coloring/icing colors
- Water
- Non-toxic paintbrushes
- Plastic palette, or cups
Use the food coloring as ‘paint’. When you use the watercolor method, you can create depths by adding color, allowing the color to dry, and painting over it again. You do however want to be a little careful because your canvas is fondant, and although I find it holds up pretty well, it can be delicate if it is too wet. I will definitely give this another try
